Pisang Peak Climbing

Pisang peak lies on the north of Manang Valley. This peak is 6091m high from the sea level. It was first climbed by a German Expedition in 1955. Normally this trip we can do with in a 3 weeks period. Pisang Peak climbing begins from the Bensisahar. On the way we can pass lots of beautiful and panoramic places such as: Bensisahar, Dharapani, Chame and Pisang. Also we can see the fabulous mountain panorama view of Annapurna Range, Manang Valley, Mt Manaslu and Lamjung Himal.

Quick Information

Day 01:  Arrival in Kathmandu International Airport,and transfer to Hotel.
Day 02:  Kathmandu Sightseeing &  Climbing gear checking day & Permit arrange day.
Day 03:  Kathmandu to Besisahar by Bus ( 850m).
Day 04:  Besisahar and Drive to Chame (2,630m).
Day 05:  Chame  trek to  Upper Pisang-(4-5hours) 3,700m.
Day 06:  Day for relax and acclimatize-3,700m.
Day 07: Trek to Pisang Peak Base Camp-(3-4hours) 4,380m.
Day 08: Today our climbing guide will provide you basic skill, technique for climbing.
Day 09: High Camp-(3-4hours) 5,400m.
Day 10: Summit to the Peak and back to Base Camp-(7-9hours) 6,091m.
Day 11: Pisang Peak Base Camp to Manang Valley-(5-6hours).
Day 12: Manang to Yak Kharka-(4-5hours) 4,110m.
Day 13: Yak Kharka to Thorong Pedi-(3-4hours) 4,600m.
Day 14: Cross Thorong la in early morning and back to Muktinath-(8-10hours) 5,416m.
Day 15: Trek down to Kagbeni and trek to Jomsom(5-6hours)2800m.
Day 16: Jomsom drive by local bus to  Pokhara.
Day 17: Full day Sight Seeing in Pokhara city.
Day 18: Fly Pokhara  to Kathmandu  Explore day in Kathmandu, Shopping and Farewell dinner..
Day 19: Transfer to Airport On time for Departure.

 

DAY.01:  Kathmandu arrival  (1,350)m: 

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, Alpine Journeys Treks will officially  meet you at Airport & transfer you to  hotel.  Trip Briefing. Overnight in hotel.

 

DAY 02:  Kathmandu Sightseeing &  Climbing gear checking day & Permit arrange day: 

Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. The day will also be for finalizing official procedure and other necessary arrangements. You will be also briefed on the nature of expedition, equipments and team composition. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites; including the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambunath) and Buddhists shrine (BouddhaNath) which is one of the large Stupas in the world. In the afternoon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek and Climb Guide and some staff. You can also make your last minute buying of personal items as you will be going to the Himalayas tomorrow.

 

DAY 03:  Kathmandu to Besisahar by Bus-(7-8hours) 850m:

Early start to make the bus journey around 7 hours to Besisahar (850m), the starting point of the trek. Your adventure begins! Passing through many small villages & rocky trail along the river bank on the way will fascinate you with snippets of every day living in these lowland villages. you will reach Besisahar in evening. Over night stay at lodge.

 

DAY 04:  Besisahar to Bahundanda-(5-6hours) 1,310m :

First day of your walk involves crossing a few suspension bridges, waterfalls, several ups and downs hill sections, across rice paddies and subtropical forest. The villages and people are an interesting . You eventually ascend to Bahundanda (Hills of Brahmins) for the over night, a village set on a long ridge at 1310m.Over night at lodge.

 

DAY 05:  Bahundanda to Chamje-(5-6hours) 1,430m:

After breakfast, we descend through  rice terraces, along a steep vertical cliff, lush forests, and some  villages. We start gradually walking up after crossing suspension bridge in the Mayshyangdi River and get Jagat where we will step for lunch. We will have one and half hours further rocky trail walk to reach Chamje. Spend the night at Chamje. Over night at lodge.

 

DAY 06:  Chamje to Dharapani-(5-6hours) 1,950m :

Today you will cross a suspension bridge in Marshyangdi river just right after you left chamje and You will enter to Manang district after walking up hills before to reach Tal, after passing fields of corn, barley and potatoes and then through forests of bamboo and Rhododendrons. Just right after the Tal, you will across the river and continue walking through the cliff way right above the river and reach Dharapani at late afternoon. Overnight at lodge.

 

DAY 07:  Dharapani to Chame-(5-6hours) 2,630m :

Today you will trek along with several landslides on route, remember to look up though, as you will receive some sensational views of major Himalayan peaks. Today you will encounter some typical Tibetan villages enroute before to reach Chame. Chame is districts headquarter of Manang. Beautiful views of the Mt. Lamjung and Annapurna II can be seen from your hotel. Over night at lodge.

 

DAY 08:  Chame to Upper Pisang-(5-6hours) 3,700m :

A narrow steep path through a very dense pine forest will bring you to the dramatic curved rock face, rising 1500m from the river. As the trail opens up you will be surrounded by Himalayan Peaks all the way to Pisang. You will have an extra half an hour climb towards a big hill to reach Upper Pisang. Over night at lodge.

 

DAY 09:  Day for relax and acclimatize-3,700m :

Today you will have a rest day here. Check and set up all the gears for climbing and acclimatized. Enjoy the whole day with very nice magnificent views of all the Annapurnas, Gangapurna and Tilicho. Relax day. Over night at lodge.

 

DAY 10:  Trek to Pisang Peak Base Camp-(3-4hours) 4,380m :

Today we start walking up towards Base camp after a day relax in Upper Pisang. From Upper Pisang village, the path ascends through sparse wood and pasture to a Kharka at (4,380m) which is considered the best place for setting up the base camp. It is in a flat alpine section along the well worn trail. Over night stay at tent.

 

DAY 11:  Today our climbing guide will provide you basic skill, technique for climbing in the base camp around. This skill will help you to adjust climbing and conquer Pisang peak .  Over night stay at camp.

 

DAY 12:   High Camp-(3-4hours) 5,400m :

Today we climb 4 -5 hours and set up our high camp at the height of 5400m after climbing to a shoulder on the south west ridge. There will be snow at the high camp from the end of November to the end of March. Over night at Tent. 

 

DAY 13:  Summit to the Peak and back to Base Camp-(7-9hours) 6,091m :

Today is a day to fulfill your dream of Summit/conquer on Pisang Peak. From the High Camp,the well defined ridge leads to the final snow slop which is quite steep and more technical to reach the summit. Our guide will fixed the rope and lead you to the successful summit of the Pisang peak. After a Successful summit, you will walk down to Base Camp and stay over night at tent.

DAY 14:  Pisang Peak Base Camp to Manang Valley-(5-6hours) :

Today you will trek back to Pisang village and continue trek to Manang village walking across the riverside. Here, you will notice a contrast with the landscape and vegetation. The cold, dry climate creates a much harsher environment. Incredible views of the towering Himalayan Peaks. Manang is a great Mt. Valley which has a rich customs & tradition and gives you an opportunity to observe a traditional lifestyle of Manangi People (one of the Ethnic Group people of Nepal). Over night stay at lodge.

 

DAY 15:  Manang to Yak Kharka-(4-5hours) 4,110m:

Today we start trek after breakfast and leave the trail off to Tilicho Lake on the left corner and continue a short walk up to Yak Kharka, a small settlement set at 4,110m/13,484ft. we will have a gradual ascent towards a little hill and way goes more right behind the hill and reach Yak kharka. Overnight in Yak Karka (4,110m/13,484ft).

 

DAY 16:  Yak Kharka to Thorong Pedi-(3-4hours) 4,600m :

Make your way to the foot of the pass, Throng Phedi. A small places although busy settlement catering to the needs of trekkers and climbers. It is situated at the bottom of the Thorong la  and the trails continually step up to Thorong la  afterwards. Overnight in Throng Phedi lodge.

 

DAY 17:  Cross Thorong la in early morning and back to Muktinath-(8-10hours) 5,416m :

An early morning 2-3 AM start is most important to begin a long day trek over the pass. Crossing this fabulous Throng La pass {5,416m} will be an unforgettable experience. However, the problem may arise due to the altitude and snow. It may causes problem to cross the pass if it is covered by snow. The views from the trail and from the pass itself are outstanding high Himalayan scenes. We will enjoy the top with a hot cup of tea/coffee (But not available at Dec - Feb) and enjoy the celebration of success at the pass. And start a long descent to another part of the Annapurna and reach Muktinath at evening. Overnight in Muktinath (3,800 m) lodge/hotel.

 

DAY 18:  Trek down to Kagbeni-(3-4hours) :

Today we will have easy walking day down to Kagbeni. After 30 minute walk from Muktinath, we will arrive Jharkot, a rich village which still have similar culture and tradition like Tibet. It is probably a best village to overview the landscapes and combination of dry hills with green field. We trek further down to Kagbeni and spend Overnight at Lodge.

 

DAY 19:  Trek to Jomsom-(3-4hours) 2,800m :

Today we will have pleasant walking through the sand bar of Kali Gandaki river. You can give an hour enroute to look for fossils on riverside while walking because finding a natural fossil from the Kaligandaki River brings good luck in your life. We will make this walk before the wind start blowing in Kaligandaki valley. Jomsom is the head quarter of Mustang and it is inhabitant of Thakali people with rich culture and tradition. You can rush your afternoon to visit Ecological museum of the Jomsom which gives you more information of the old traditional culture, tradition, flora and fauna of the valley. Over night stay at lodge/hotel.

 

DAY 20:  Jomsom - Tatopani :

Morning after breakfast get ready to drive by local bus 5-6 hours to Tatopani(hot  spring). After drive back, check inn hotel and have lunch and enjoy with hot spring bath in natural hot spring pond. This hot spring bath will help you to refresh your energy of trek + climbing and treat your body, skin damage by high altitude. Many skin ointment treat by natural hot water bath. Swim suit is most needed and naked body won't permit to show as per local culture.

 

DAY 21: Drive back by local bus to Beni - Pokhara :

3 - 4 hours drive back by local bus along way of Kali gandaki river to Beni bazar, a small city located in the bank of Kali gandaki river and connected with bus to Pokhara. This is the starting and ending point of Jomsom trek and fine hotel/lodges can be found easily. After lunch in Beni, you can change a bus to Pokhara. Evening stay in Pokhara hotel. 

 

DAY 22: Full day Sight Seeing in Pokhara city. Pokhara is second largest city of Nepal and a resting point of huge tourists. From here one can glance closely Fish Tail mountain, Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and many other mountains. Fewa lake, mountain museum, Tibetan cam are the main attraction of this city. 

 

DAY 23:  Depature to Kathmandu:

Today we will have an early scenic drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara by Tourist coach. You can enjoy with luxury tourist coach and the fine road leads through the cultivated lands, villages and crosses many bridges over river like Marshyangdi, Budhi gandaki, Trishuli etc. And we will arrive kathmandu at afternoon. Drove your Hotel.

 

DAY 24:  Final Departure:

We will transfer you to the airport for your onward destination 3 hours before of your flight. You will feel that your trek to this tiny Himalayan kingdom is life time memorable and feel one time is not enough to visit Nepal!! You will take good memory and experience with you to your home town.
